Halikko is located in the West coast of Southern Finland and is a very busy community with 9700 inhabitants. The Coastal Highway E18 (Turku –Helsinki) runs through Halikko. Of all the jobs in the area, about 10 per cent are in primary production, 40 per cent in industrial and 50 per cent in service and trade.

Halikko has a very old history and it is specially seen in Rikalanmäki which was a very important harbour and trading place during the Viking Age. A signposted ancient trail brings the prehistory close to you and you can go back in history over one thousand years.

The stone church of Halikko was built in 1440 by the Horn family. It is dedicated to Holy Birgitta who lived in the 14th century. It has undergone several alterations since 15th century, latest was when the Armfelt family turned it into a cruciform church in the early19th century. Over two kilometres birch-lined alley leads from Halikko Church to Joensuu Manor.

The church of Angelniemi was built in 1772 lead by Matti Åkerblom. The church was totally prepared in 1743 and 1935.

The church of Vaskio was built in 1908 and was consecrated as a church in 1959.

The museum of Halikko was built in 1849 and is one of the best local museums in Southern Finland. There is an excellent basic collection of the history of Halikko. There are also interesting changing exhibitions by various items.

Right next to the museum there is also Franssintalo, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or read a newspaper. In Franssintalo there is also "Taitojen tupa" where local people sell their handicrafts.

The historical bridge of Halikko was built in 1866. The bridge was a part of an important Turku-Viipuri road in the Middle Ages and is better known as a King´s Road. It was declared a museum bridge in 1985.

Joensuu Manor has played a central role in the history of Halikko. Horns ruled the Manor almost five centuries until Armfelts took their place in the 1780´s. The house was designed by Carlo Bassi and Carl Christoffer Gjörwell. Nowadays it is a private home.

The history of Wiurila Manor is known since the 15th century. The present main building was built in 1806-1811 and designed by Carlo Bassi. Since Armfelt-family took their place in the Manor in 1787, the area has been changed totally. Nowadays, there are a hostel, restaurant, riding school and golf club in the manor area. Private home.

The gulf of Wiurila is an important resting place for the migratory birds and is known as valuable ornithological area even on an international level.

Vuorentaka Manor was first built in the 16th century. Vuorentaka Manor was originally an annex of the manors Joensuu and Wiurila. In the early 16th century it was built of gray granite but the Gothic look is from the 1850´s when the building was extended by using red brick. The Manor was totally prepared in 1990's.The owners of this Manor have been the Horn- and the Armfelt-family. The main part of the collections in the Manor has been inherited from Armfelt-family who owned the house over 200 years. Private home.

In Vaisakko landscape is very changeable and beautiful. There is a nut tree grove where nutchatchets and woodpeckers inhabits. These unique groves are protected by the law.

In Vartsala it can be seen one of the biggest giant´s cauldrons in Finland. Giant´s cauldrons are holes in granite cliffs made by glaciers during the Ice Age.

The landmark of Halikko can be seen on the top of the Kärävuori Hill. There is over 20 meter high water tower and from the outlook point of the tower you can admire the varied landscape of Halikko.
